Views are useful ways to visualize your work in ClickUp. With it, you have total flexibility to view your work, however you want. There are countless different forms of visualizations to choose from, and you can customize each visualization according to the information you need. Each view is a unique perspective that can be adjusted to match your individual preferences.
“In other words, think of visualizations as the light that illuminates the scene. In the same way that different light sources can change the appearance of a scene in the theater, the different visualizations within ClickUp allow us to analyze and draw different conclusions depending on the visualization chosen. (put it as a catchphrase)”
Some of the most popular views are:
- List
- Board (Kanban)
- Table
Going a little deeper into the hierarchical part of views, it is possible to have multiple views of the same type or different types in any directory, and at any hierarchical level. Therefore, a view at the level of List will only show the tasks from that specific list, just as a view at the level of Folder or Space will show all the tasks within the lists of those respective directories.
How to create a new view
Task view is a unique way to visualize your activities,
Before adding new views, you should take into consideration the following facts:
- Members can add views publicly by default unless otherwise specified;
- Views are added at the top of the screen within Space, Folder, List or even at the All level;
- By default, new views will be public and visible to everyone who has access to the location where they were created. However, you can choose to leave it private or pinned to the front of your view list.
To add a new view, simply follow these steps:
- Click on +View at the top of the selected location.
- Select the view from the list of options.
- Click Add View

When you add a new view, you will be able to choose whether to make the view private or pin it to the front of your view list.

And here’s a good practice TIP: if this new view will be used frequently by you or your team, consider pinning it, this will ensure easy access to it.
List View
The List view exists at any level of hierarchy, it is the default view of ClickUp. This is the most flexible view for grouping and classifying your tasks, it allows you to add custom fields directly.

If you don’t see the column you want to edit, just click on the + sign, then click on Show/Hide and select the column you want to show:

One of the great advantages of this view is that it allows you to select multiple tasks, so you can change/update parameters in common with the selected tasks at once, using the Multitasking Bar at the top of the screen:

Another advantage is that you can easily click and drag tasks between the selected groupings, for example, move a task from Awaiting Review to Approved just by clicking and dragging the task.
Board View (Kanban)
Easily drag and drop tasks between different columns in your workflow. The Board view (or also known as Kanban) is very popular and useful in Agile teams and Marketing teams

By default, tasks will be grouped by their Status, however it is possible to group by Responsible, by Priority, by Tag, by End Date and by Custom Field

In addition to grouping by Status, you can organize the cards in a second way within the columns using the Sort by button:

The card itself already displays some basic information and also allows you to quickly add/change other information, such as defining labels, estimating time, changing task priority, changing task due date, changing task assignee, among others:

By By default, subtasks are nested under their parent tasks, and therefore are not visible. To view the subtasks, simply click on the icon shown in the image below:

PRO TIP: To be able to edit or update or remove tasks in greater volume, you can select them by clicking the radio buttons shown in the following image:

Table View
If you love Data, you will love ClickUp’s Table View. Table view lets you quickly create visual spreadsheets and databases, and turns any workflow into a pivot table. It allows you to view the maximum amount of data, edit tasks, export data and calculate data using formulas. It is possible to calculate data by sum, average and range, and can calculate the following fields – date, number, money, estimated time, tracked time.

This view is a great tool for teams in Manufacturing (track order details during a production process), Sales (Reference sales opportunities, contacts and other account information) and HR (Reference relevant employment information).
