Super Agentes no ClickUp: o que são e como funcionam

ClickUp WhatsApp Integration: How It Works with ClickUp Super Agents

Those looking for ClickUp WhatsApp integration usually find two incomplete answers: a list of connectors that only send notifications and a promise of an AI agent for WhatsApp that doesn’t know where the seller’s task lives. This article describes the third way, which TaskUP operates on the production number itself: the lead writes on the company’s WhatsApp, a ClickUp Super Agent responds in the same conversation and the task appears in the commercial’s list with BANT, note, summary and next action. The examples come from real conversations and a real task, published on the TaskUP Sales Super Agent page.

There is no native integration between ClickUp and WhatsApp

ClickUp does not have a native connector with WhatsApp. The request “WhatsApp Automation and Direct Integration” is open on ClickUp’s own suggestions portal, and this is what appears when someone searches for the topic. What exists are two paths built from the outside.

The first uses third-party automation tools to trigger a WhatsApp message when something changes in ClickUp. It serves as a warning. The qualification, conversation and completion of the task continue with one person.

The second inverts the logic: the conversation enters ClickUp via the official WhatsApp API and the person responding is an AI agent who already lives in the workspace, with access to the commercial list and the rules document. This is the path that this article describes.

The official path: WhatsApp Business Platform

The conversation takes place on the company’s WhatsApp number, connected to the WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta’s official API. This is the number that is already in the ads and on the website. Whoever opens the conversation sees the platform’s standard warning: “This company uses a secure Meta service to manage this conversation.”

Each message that arrives creates or updates a task in the commercial’s ClickUp list. The task starts with the “Sent from WhatsApp” field marked and with the title in the pattern “[WhatsApp] Message from” followed by the contact’s name. When the same person writes again, the message drops as a comment in the task that already exists, instead of opening another one.

From then on, ClickUp does the work: creating the task triggers the automation that runs the agent.

The ClickUp Super Agent lives in the workspace and is triggered by automation

The agent that responds is a ClickUp Super Agent, a ClickUp Brain product, configured within the company’s workspace. Instead of an external chatbot querying ClickUp via API, the agent is a profile of ClickUp itself, with an AI model, triggers, tools, knowledge sources and memory defined in a panel. If the term is new to you, the post what are Super Agents on ClickUp and how they work explains the basis.

In the TaskUP Sales Super Agent profile, the panel shows what a sales manager needs to know:

  • Triggers: mention, direct message and task assignment linked in manual mode, two times in scheduled mode and an automation that runs the agent when a task is created. It is this automation that links the WhatsApp message to the response.
  • Tools: 22 tools enabled, starting with ClickUp itself.
  • Knowledge: external search with the WhatsApp Help Center ClickUp and Web Search linked; in the workspace, access to 1 list and 3 documents.
  • Memory: recent memory, preferences and intelligence linked in the profile.
  • AI model: not automatic or fixed, as a field profile.

People with permission to manage the agent can review and change these settings. Anyone who wants to understand the difference between this agent and common ClickUp automations can find the comparison in Super Agents vs automations in ClickUp.

In practice, the lead sends the message and the agent responds in the same conversation, in around 90 seconds in the TaskUP test. The first answer already qualifies. In the 08/25 test, the agent’s opening ended with two questions: “Do you already use any task management or control tools today? And what is the main challenge you want to solve with ClickUp now?”

The conversation becomes a task: BANT, note and next action

While talking, the agent completes the task. Budget, authority, need and deadline come out of the lead’s responses and become fields, with a score from 0 to 10 and the reason written next to them. Lead rated 8 to 10 is treated as hot.

A actual task published in clippings, from 09/03/2026, shows the result: Lead Score 9, interest in automation, AI and Super Agents, team size of 50 people, urgency marked as less than 2 weeks and a next action written by the agent, “schedule handoff with specialist for automation of qualification and tracking of commercial leads with AI in ClickUp”.

No activity panel of the same task there are two records. The first is the agent’s comment, which summarizes what the lead requested and suggests prioritizing a quick contact to validate the automation scope, license plan and eventual migration project. The second is the ClickBot alert: “HOT LEAD”, score 8 or more, qualified for handoff, with the task priority changed to Urgent.

In the commercial list, the columns that the agent writes are three: Lead Score, Status and Next Action. In the capture of 09/03/2026, notes 9, 10, 2 and 8 appear, the states “In conversation” and “Qualified”, and next actions such as “respond by email to schedule discovery”. The salesperson opens the task before calling and knows where to start.

Human Handoff: When the Agent Steps Aside

When the lead warms up, the agent stops driving, schedules the handoff and writes the next action. In the example on the page, the record looked like this: “Escalate to specialist: validate CRM project in ClickUp integrated with ERP for 3 users from the sales team. Next step: wait for conversation/confirmed appointment.” Scope, license plan and migration project are up to the human expert.

The limit of what the agent can assert is written in a Doc in ClickUp. Section 16 of this Doc, “Chatbot and Super Agent Guardrails”, has two parts: “What You Can Claim” and “What You Can’t Claim”. Among the permitted rules are features per plan according to the official ClickUp website, TaskUP services and the rule that supports the agent’s thesis: saying you don’t know when you don’t know, always.

An internal test on 09/03/2026 shows the rule in use. The question was: “It’s a home-made ERP, without a documented API. Do you guarantee two-way synchronization?” The answer began with “As it is a homemade ERP and without a documented API, I cannot immediately guarantee two-way synchronization”, he explained that this depends on how the system exposes the data and sent it to a technical specialist from TaskUP to evaluate with the IT team.

Traceability: the Lead Ref links the advertisement, email, WhatsApp and task

A common problem in any ClickUp WhatsApp integration is attribution: the lead leaves the email in a form, disappears into WhatsApp and reappears as a task with no link to the origin. The email cannot travel to WhatsApp, and the TaskUP page warns: “Your email will not go to WhatsApp.”

The solution is an opaque identifier, the Lead Ref: an 8-character code generated on the first valid submission of the form, with no name, email, telephone or campaign parameter within it. The code is recorded in the marketing automation contact, enters the pre-populated WhatsApp message in the format “Ref: A7F3K9Q2” and is copied by the integration to the “Lead Ref” field of the task in ClickUp, even when the message appears as a comment in a task that already existed.

The result for the manager: search for the code in both systems and prove that it is the same lead. As the landing also stores the campaign parameters in the same contact, the commercial stage (qualified lead, scheduled handoff, meeting held) can be linked back to the ad that originated the conversation.

What stays with TaskUP and what stays with you

The division of work published on the page is short.

TaskUP:

  • Configures the agent in your ClickUp workspace.
  • Writes the rules Doc with you.
  • Gives 2 live workshops, free of charge, for the team to maintain the Doc without depending on consultancy.
  • Maintains, with support in Portuguese.

You:

  • The company’s WhatsApp number, via the official Meta API.
  • The list of salespeople and salespeople already serving today.
  • The Rules Doc, to review and edit according to workspace permissions.

TaskUP is a ClickUp Ruby partner in 2026 and is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified by BSI (IS 817792 certificate, valid until 2028). The agent test runs on the TaskUP production number: anyone who wants to see the flow working can open a conversation with the ClickUp Super Agent and ask the question that most concerns your commercial. The test response is the response a customer would receive.

Frequently asked questions

Does ClickUp have native integration with WhatsApp?

No. The direct integration request is open in the ClickUp suggestions portal. What works today is to connect the company number through the WhatsApp Business Platform and let the conversation enter ClickUp as a task, where a ClickUp Super Agent can be triggered by automation.

Are a Generic WhatsApp AI Agent and the ClickUp Super Agent the Same Thing?

No. A generic AI agent for WhatsApp responds to messages on its own platform; the task in ClickUp, when it exists, depends on another integration. ClickUp Super Agent is a ClickUp Brain product that runs within the workspace, with access to the commercial list, the Rules Doc and ClickUp tools, and writes the result of the conversation in the task fields.

Do I need to change the company’s WhatsApp number?

No. The agent responds to the number that the company already uses in ads and on the website, connected to Meta’s official API. What changes is where the conversation is recorded: in the commercial listing on ClickUp.

What Does the Agent Do When It doesn’t know the answer?

He says he doesn’t know and forwards it. The rule is in section 16 of the Knowledge Doc, “What You Can Claim”, and was tested on 9/3/2026 with a question about syncing with an ERP without a documented API: the agent explained what the answer depends on and called a TaskUP technical expert.

Does the salesperson need to learn a new tool?

No. The leads enter the list that the team already opens in ClickUp, with Lead Score, Status and Next action filled in by the agent. The hot lead alert appears in the task activity panel and changes the priority to Urgent.

How do I know that the ad’s lead is the same as the task’s lead in ClickUp?

By Lead Ref, an 8-character code generated when the lead sends the email in the landing. It goes in the pre-populated WhatsApp message and the integration writes the same code in the “Lead Ref” field of the task. The email itself never enters the conversation.
