ClickUp 4.07 brings Workspace configuration closer to the actual type of work being performed. Custom Fields can be organized by task type, Slack history can be imported into existing destinations, Super Agents can use tools from external MCP servers, and AI Notetaker adds meeting chat to generated notes.
In practice, the update reduces repetitive setup and improves continuity across tasks, communication, and AI.
Release overview
Custom Fields by task type
Bugs, accounts, campaigns, and other work types no longer need to display the same data structure. ClickUp now prioritizes fields that matter to each task type. Associations can be managed from Custom Field Manager, the Fields sidebar, or task view. For larger operations, this reduces oversized forms and makes data capture more consistent with each process.
Import Slack history into existing destinations
The importer no longer has to create a new Channel for every source. Slack channels can be mapped to existing ClickUp Channels, Spaces, Folders, or Lists. The main benefit is preserving history without fragmenting the architecture the team already uses. Setup is available under Settings, Imports and Exports.
MCP servers connected to Super Agents
Super Agents can use tools from external MCP servers such as CRMs, support desks, data warehouses, or internal applications. Connections are created in App Center and can use OAuth or an API token, with personal or Workspace scope. This expands what an Agent can read and do, while making permission, credential, and access-log governance essential.
AI Notetaker captures meeting chat
Messages sent during Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls are included in generated notes with sender attribution. Decisions and links shared only in chat are no longer separated from the transcript. The result is a more complete meeting record and better input for follow-up tasks.
Operational impact
| Feature | What changes | Operational impact |
|---|---|---|
| Fields by task type | Surfaces the data that matters to each process | Simpler forms and better governance |
| Slack import | Maps history into existing ClickUp structures | Migration without duplicate Channels |
| MCP for Super Agents | Connects external tools and data | More capable Agents with access control |
| Chat in AI Notetaker | Adds messages and senders to notes | A complete meeting record |
How to adopt it safely
- Define a task-type-to-required-field matrix before changing the entire Workspace.
- Pilot one Slack Channel and validate permissions, dates, and message attribution.
- Apply least privilege to MCP connections and document which actions each Super Agent may perform.
- Review recording and consent policies before enabling meeting-chat capture.
Release 4.07 focuses on context quality: each task surfaces more relevant data, historical conversations move into existing structures, and Agents and meeting notes can work with richer sources. The value is strongest when these features sit on top of clear architecture and well-defined access rules.
