**Excerpt:** ClickUp 4.09 creates Lists through Automations, adds time off to planning, syncs dates, and introduces interactive Org Charts.

**Content:**

ClickUp 4.09 strengthens planning and execution with data that better reflects reality. Automations can create Lists from templates, personal time off flows into scheduling and workload, parent tasks synchronize dates with subtasks, and Org Charts show relationships between people and Super Agents.

The update is especially relevant to recurring operations, capacity management, and organizational governance.

## Release overview

## Create Lists from templates using Automations

The Create List action can apply a List Template and remap dates relative to the triggering event. A new project can start with tasks, views, and timelines already in place. The action works in Automations at Space, Folder, or List level, reducing setup work for recurring processes.

## Personal time off becomes part of planning

Vacations, sick days, and other absences recorded in a profile or Teams Hub flow into Scheduling, Workload, Calendar, and Timesheets. ClickUp warns about conflicts in date and assignee pickers when work overlaps an absence. The feature is available on Business Plus and Enterprise Plans.

## Parent task dates synchronize with subtasks

When date sync is enabled for a List, the parent task's start date, due date, and duration are recalculated from the earliest and latest subtask dates. This reduces manual adjustments and keeps executive timelines aligned with detailed execution. It is also available on Business Plus and Enterprise.

## One picker for people, tasks, and content

The unified picker finds people, Agents, Teams, tasks, Docs, Channels, Spaces, Folders, Lists, Whiteboards, Clips, and connected apps such as GitHub and Google Drive. ClickUp also reports that the picker opens up to four times faster.

## Forwarding between Chat and tasks

Comments and messages can be forwarded to a Channel, DM, or task with an optional note, quoted preview, and link to the original. The flow works from Chat to task, task to task, and task to Chat, retaining traceability without manually copying context.

## Interactive Org Charts in Teams Hub

Org Charts show reporting lines and team connections. When Agents are enabled, each person's Super Agents appear as direct reports. The chart is available from Teams Hub, a profile's Org Chart tab, or the Command Bar.

## Operational impact

## How to adopt it safely

1. Review templates before automating List creation and define date-remapping rules.
2. Standardize absence records and assign owners to maintain team calendars.
3. Pilot date sync in one List to avoid unexpected timeline changes.
4. Define when a conversation should be forwarded to a task and who owns the follow-up.
5. Validate reporting lines before using the Org Chart as a governance reference.

Release 4.09 connects structure, availability, and execution. Recurring projects start from a standard, capacity reflects real absences, and high-level schedules follow subtask dates. Context forwarding and Org Charts also improve how responsibility is understood across the Workspace.
